Gang Arrested: Three Of Gang Arrested For Duping Men On Dating App | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The city police on Tuesday arrested three members of a gang that used catfishing tactics on a popular dating mobile app to abduct and extort money from unsuspecting youths.
DCP (East) Gyan Chandra Yadav said that Pratap Nagar police arrested the accused idenitfied as Lekhraj Gurjar (20), Bhim Singh Gurjar (19), and Surendra Gurjar (19).
Yadav said that a man had filed an FIR at the Pratap Nagar police station a few days ago. In the complaint, he alleged that some youths waylaid him after seeking a lift on his bike. Another accused in a car also arrived and abducted him. They took him to a secluded place where they extorted Rs 20,000 through online payment and took cash of Rs 5,000 before stranding him at Lalsot in Dausa district.
Yadav said that the accused was found to be involved in similar incidents in Shipra Path, Bassi, Sawai Madhopur, Dausa, and Gangapur City. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused would befriend gullible men on the app. They would ask them to meet at a location where they would be abducted, robbed, and extorted.
“The accused deliberately targeted individuals based on their reputation, believing them to be easy prey. Our teams launched an extensive search operation, leading to the arrest of all the accused,” Yadav said, adding that the police were investigating the role of other possible suspects in the case.
Police said that they are also speaking to their counterparts in other districts to verify if they had also come across cases wherein the accused abducted people.
