Gehlot attacks PM, asks him to dismiss Shekhawat as min | Jaipur News
JAISALMER: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday mounted a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh should resign on the grounds of morality as he is misleading the people.
“Your (PM’s) minister has become mentally bankrupt. You should set him right and make him understand, and tell him to settle the case of Sanjeevani, or else you should dismiss him. Rajasthan’s SOG has made Gajendra Singh an accused (in Sanjeevani scam). So he should accept his mistake and refund the money of the people,” said Gehlot in his address at a function at Adarsh Stadium in Barmer, where he laid foundation stones of some projects and dedicated to the public development projects worth Rs 143 crore.
Hitting back at Modi for his statements at a public meeting in Ajmer that the state and the country will become bankrupt if the schemes of Congress governments are implemented, Gehlot said, “It is not Congress that suffers from a mental bankruptcy but your ministers. Please set them right.”
“Mr Prime Minister, I want to tell you that you are distributing freebies by going to Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, but our schemes are not till the time of the elections, they are permanent schemes. If I have said that insurance cover will be of Rs 25 lakh, then it can be increased to Rs 30 lakh, but will never be reduced,” said Gehlot.
On Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat’s alleged involvement in the Sanjeevani scam, Gehlot said the people of Barmer are the most disappointed. “The Sanjeevani scam has ruined about 2.5 lakh families. People affected by the Sanjeevani scam have met me, and I was in tears. Mr Prime Minister, Rajasthan will never become bankrupt; it is your minister’s mind that has become bankrupt. So please set it right and tell him to settle the Sanjeevani case. Or else terminate him,” he said.
Gehlot said the name of Shekhawat, the MP from Jodhpur, has come in the list of accused in the Sanjeevani scam and that he is “roaming around as a Union Minister while being scared that he would be sent to jail, which is why he has taken bail from the high court”. The CM said the state government is sensitive towards the problems in the border districts. “By carrying the water of Indira Gandhi canal, we have resolved the problem of drinking water there. The starting of industrial production at the refinery there will create employment opportunities on a large scale. We demand that the status of national project be accorded to ERCP project, which is a lifeline for 13 districts in Rajasthan. The prime minister had himself promised national status to ERCP in his meetings,” said Gehlot.
