Raj’s Ronak Selected For U-13 Gothia Cup | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Coming from Mehara Jatoowas, a hamlet in Khetri town of Jhunjhunu district, Ronak Kirar is all set to fly to Sweden, his first international tour. His talent and skill in football caught the eyes of scouts and earned him the opportunity to represent India at the Under-13 Gothia Cup to be held in Sweden from July 16 to 22. Ronak is the only player from Rajasthan to have made it to the 16-member squad for the international tournament.
The youngster’s excellence in football is a result of the combined efforts of his coach Sonu Kirar, contribution of the OSCAR Foundation, and most importantly, his hard work. “I am happy to have got this opportunity and it will be my first international assignment. Hope I get the chance to showcase my potential at the international stage,” Ronak told TOI.
The 13-year-old comes from a humble background. His father, who is a labourer, is the sole breadwinner of the family of seven. His coach shared that Ronak enrolled with the foundation last year and they fielded their team for the Gothia Cup trials in the state. “Children from low-income families enroll with OSCAR foundation where they are given football coaching with the aim to encourage them to stay in school and equip them with skills to make them future ready,” Sonu said.
The coach added that football is ‘the main sport’ at Mehara Jatoowas village. “Here every child grows up playing football. So Ronak already possesses the skill, and he is blessed with great talent. Training is only making him better. And he is improving,” he further said. tnn
