In the meeting, it was planned to provide 26.40 lakh water connections this financial year and another 23.40 new connections in the next.

“Besides Jaipur, this year the focus would be on districts like Jodhpur, Nagaur, Jalore and Bhilwara. In these districts we had planned the maximum number of connections,” said an official.
In the meeting – chaired by additional chief secretary Subodh Agarwal – it was announced that the National Jal Jeevan Mission has approved Rs 474.06 crores for support activities. Accordingly, state government has approved District Action Plans (DAP) for all the 33 districts of the state.
So, far the state government has spent Rs 14,579 crore under the JJM and, till April 26, has provided connections to 40.44 lakhs connections to rural Rajasthan under the Har Ghar Jal scheme.
In the previous fiscal, Hanumangarh has topped the list of JJM connections, where 59% connection had already been provided. While Banswara was the least performing district with only 14% connections so far.
“This year we have planned to provide only 29,706 new connections in Banswara. While in Hanumangarh we are going to provide another 86,239 connections this year,” another official added.
