Govt Brings Minimum Guaranteed Income Bill | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The state government on Tuesday introduced the Rajasthan Minimum Guaranteed Income Bill 2023 to provide entitlement-based social security to support the individuals or households of the state with an additional minimum guaranteed income in the form of a guaranteed wage or social security pension.
By this law, the government has legalised 25 additional days, under NREGA in rural areas, and 125 days in urban areas. It has also given the support of legal framework to the various pensions and the unemployment allowance given as part of the social security schemes.
According to the Act, the state government shall provide to eligible persons a minimum guaranteed income through Mahatma Gandhi Minimum Guaranteed Income Yojana( MGMGIY) by providing employment in urban areas through the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme and in rural areas through Chief Minister Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme or by providing pension to an eligible category of old age/specially abled/widow/single woman.
The Bill mentioned the state government shall designate a program officer, not below the rank of block development officer in rural areas and an executive officer of the local body in urban areas to implement the provisions for guaranteed employment. The objective is providing a package of essential services.
