‘govt To Bear Treatment Cost In Pvt Hosp’s Emergency’ | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Amidst protests by private doctors on Right to Health bill, health minister Parsadi Lal Meena on Monday clarified that government would bear the cost of patients coming to private hospital’s emergency ward, if they do not have money to pay.
Under the bill, the state government has made provision for healthcare providers including private hospitals to provide emergency treatment and care under any urgent circumstances, without prepayment of requisite fees of charges including prompt and necessary medical treatment and critical care, emergency obstetric treatment and care.
The private hospitals’ associations have opposed the provision. Now, the health minister has further clarified it. “We never said that private hospitals need to provide free treatment to patients in emergency under the bill. We will pay them whether through Chiranjeevi Yojana or separately. It will be decided,” Meena, told TOI. Select committee has called the doctors on February 11 to resolve the issue.
Meanwhile, joint action committees will present memorandum to MPs and MLAs on February 7-8.
They will boycott work on February 9 from 9 am to 12 noon and on February 10, a candle march will be organised.
