JAIPUR: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Monday stressed the need to ensure that our democratic system has the participation of people from all walks of life.
Delivering the keynote address at a conference on the ‘role of legislature in promoting effective and meaningful democracy’ at the state Assembly, Kataria, a former leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, said, “It is the responsibility of the people’s representatives to create an effective and meaningful democracy. The more the Assembly runs, the better we will be able to communicate with the public.”
The programme was organized under the aegis of the Rajasthan branch of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. Speaker CP Joshi and CM Ashok Gehlot felicitated Kataria on his assuming charge as the Governor of Assam by.
The Assembly also felicitated Shiv MLA Amin Khan and Ajmer South MLA Anita Bhadel for being picked as the best MLAs in the House for 2022 and 2023 respectively. Gehlot said Indian democracy is becoming stronger.
