Heat Wave On, Respite Likely Today | Jaipur News
Jaipur: There was no respite from heat wave conditions for the third consecutive day in the state on Saturday as most places witnessed a rise in maximum and minimum temperatures. Bikaner remained hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 45.5 °C recorded.
A minor respite is likely at some parts of Jaipur, Bharatpur and Jodhpur divisions of the state on Sunday with a possibility of mild showers and dust storms, said Met officials.
Attributing the continued rise in the mercury to active northerly winds, Jaipur Met office said fresh western disturbances were witnessed in the state on Saturday, due to which dust storms and rainfall would occur in some districts, including Jaipur, Dausa, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Bharatpur, Alwar, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.
People in Jaipur woke up to a warmer morning with a minimum temperature of 27.3 °C on Saturday. Roads wore an empty look in the afternoon as people stayed indoors. A maximum temperature of 41.8 °C was recorded. The Met office said there is possibility of mild showers and dust storm in and around Jaipur on Sunday.
The rise in the mercury also triggered drinking water crisis at many localities in Jaipur where the public health and engineering department (PHED) supplied water through tankers.
In maximum temperature, Bikaner was followed by Jaisalmer with 44.5 °C, Churu 44.4 °C, Phalodi (Jodhpur) 44.2 °C, Barmer 44.1 °C, Sriganganagar 43.4 °C, Pilani (Jhunjhunu) and Jodhpur 42.7 °C each, Alwar 41.5 °C, Ajmer 41.3 °C, and Sikar 41.0 °C.
Jaipur Met office said some respite from the scorching heat wave conditions is likely in the coming days as fresh western disturbances are visible in the state. The anti-cyclonic circulation may cause cloudy conditions in some places in western and northern Rajasthan, it said.
