Hospital Authorities: Hospital Runs Without Fire Noc, Hopes To Get It With New Measures | Jaipur News

Jaipur: SR Goyal Government Hospital at Sethi Colony in the city has been running without a no-objection certificate (NoC) from the fire department. After inspecting the hospital recently, the department had denied it NoC as it found the hospital does not fulfill the norms.
Following the directions of the fire department, the hospital authorities have created exit doors and installed necessary equipment. They have also applied again for the NoC.
A portion of OPD has been running in the hospital’s basement, where the hospital’s office shares the cramped space with just one door for entry and exit. After the fire department’s inspection, the hospital has opened a separate fire exit door that opens to the hospital’s backside into a corridor where two-wheelers are parked. The hospital authorities have installed fire safety equipment such as fire extinguishers and water sprinklers on the premises.
“We have conducted a mock drill of our staff at the hospital after ensuring all the fire safety measures on our premises. We have also informed the fire department about the measures we have taken for a fire NoC,” said Dr Govardhan Meena, superintendent of SR Goyal Government Hospital. “The safety of patients and hospital staff is our priority,” he added.
Taking lessons from the July 18 fire incident at JK Lon Hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan’s biggest hospital for children run by the state government, in which 47 kids had a miraculous escape after a fire in an ICU, Sethi Colony Hospital has heightened efforts to obtain a fire NoC.
