Hospital: Hosp Conducts Surgeries Sans A Blood Bank | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Kamal Tanwar is a happy man as his wife gave birth to a baby girl at Government Satellite Hospital at Bani Park in the city. The 30-year-old Jhotwara resident said he was “very lucky” as his wife did not require blood transfusion. The hospital does not have a blood bank, and it also does not store blood for emergency use.

“I was not asked to go to get blood for transfusion. My wife did not require it. I am very lucky,” said Tanwar. In fact, he had no idea that this government-run hospital does not have a blood bank.
Bal Mukund, whose wife also gave birth at this hospital, said he was happy with the services provided there. “I do not want to go to Zanana Hospital or Mahila Chikitsalaya as we feel comfortable here,” he said. He had no idea that he would have faced difficulties arranging blood in case his wife had required a transfusion.

Relatives of patients admitted at the Bani Park hospital have to rush to other hospitals to collect blood when a transfusion is needed. The Bani Park hospital has been functioning with limited facilities. Many patients said they were shocked to know that the hospital, which also regularly conducts surgeries, does not have a blood bank.
Even CT scan and MRI facilities are not available here. The hospital depends on other government hospitals such as Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital and Kanwatia Hospital for various services. Patients and their attendants are asked to visit these hospitals for blood and for CT scan and MRI whenever required.
Mohammad Sabir, a resident of Bhatta Basti who was being examined by doctors at the Bani Park hospital following complaints of dizziness and vomiting, said he would have to visit another government hospital if a CT scan or MRI is prescribed for him.
