Hospitals Raise Awareness On Hypertension, The Silent Killer | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Several hospitals in the city observed World Hypertension Day on Wednesday by organizing awareness programmes to inform people of ways for its prevention, treatment and early diagnosis to avoid its severe effects, especially on pregnant women.
“Hypertensive disorders during pregnancy severely affect both mother and baby if left uncared for. It is one of the leading causes of maternal and perinatal mortality. There are some factors during confinement that cause increased risks of developing hypertension during pregnancy such as nulliparity in women aged 40 or more and pregnancy intervals of more than ten years,” said Dr Shalini Rathore, senior specialist of obstetrics and gynaecology at the government-run Mahila Chikitsalaya.
