Web Design: Bikaner Range Sets Up Ai Unit To Deal With Deepfake Threats | Jaipur News

Jaipur: In light of the potential threat posed by AI-generated Deepfake videos to disrupt law and order, the inspector general (IG) of Bikaner has issued an order to establish a dedicated AI unit to address this challenge.
Talking to TOI, IGP Om Prakash said that Deepfakes, powered by advanced AI, can convincingly manipulate individuals and incite unrest by sowing seeds of discord. “We have decided to establish a dedicated AI unit that will serve all four districts: Bikaner, Anupgarh, Hanumangarh, and Sriganganagar,” he said.
Prakash added that it was crucial to take all necessary measures to address potential challenges to law and order in the districts ahead of the elections. “It is extremely challenging to distinguish a Deepfake video from a genuine one, which raises serious concerns about their potential misuse during election times,” he expressed.
This marks the first instance of a dedicated AI unit being established by any range inspector general of police (IGP) in Rajasthan, with the primary objective of monitoring and preventing the misuse of AI technologies.
The ease of access to AI tools for editing and manipulating audio, video, and text messages has raised concerns about the potential for misinformation and the importance of verifying such content.
Police officials have received prior information about unreported incidents involving miscreants attempting to use AI tools for criminal activities. This information has raised concerns about the potential use of such tools to disrupt the law and order situation.
The AI unit will monitor and address the potential misuse of AI tools to create and spread forged content, including fake videos, audio, and text, which could be used to harm individuals, groups, or communities. Specially trained police personnel will be assigned to the unit, said Prakash.
He also said that the Bikaner range is using AI tools to also control fatal road accidents on highways.
