People gather at accident spot in Barmer on Tuesday

JAISALMER: A temporary hut caught fire in which a 65-year-old man was burnt alive at Devalgarh Gaon ki Dhani in Talmore gram panchayat under Gadra road police station area in Barmer on Tuesday.
Eight goats, around Rs 60,000 cash, 10 tola gold and household items were gutted. Village sarpanch, SDM, tehsildar and SHO reached the spot. The body was kept at mortuary after postmortem. The reasons behind fire were not known immediately.
Talmore sarpanch Hindu Singh said that three huts of Kishan Singh were gutted. Kishan Singh (65) who was asleep was burnt alive. Eight goats tied near the hut too were gutted. Sarpanch and villagers tried to douse the fire but by the time it was extinguished everything had turned to ashes. At the time of the incident, the wife and children of the deceased were not in the hamlet. Kishan Singh has five sons and a wife, who were staying in different huts away from the spot.
Gadra Road SDM Sunil Panwar, tehsildar Sawai Singh, SHO Om Prakash Choudhary and sarpanch Hindu Singh reached the spot.
