Jaipur zila parishad polls: 25 wards from 51 booked for women | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: District collector and election officer Antar Singh Nehra informed that out of 51 wards under Jaipur zila parishad, 25 wards were reserved for women, nine for scheduled caste (SC), six for scheduled tribe (ST), 10 for other backward class (OBC) and 26 were reserved for general category through lottery on Thursday.
Out of these, 13 wards were reserved for general category women, five wards for OBC women, three wards for ST women and four were reserved for SC women. The lottery was conducted in view of zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections to be held in 12 districts across the state.
The district election officer said that ward numbers 2, 12, 18, 33 and 47 of Jaipur ZP have been reserved for SC category and ward numbers 1, 3, 4 and 42 were reserved for SC women. Ward numbers 25, 27, 30 were reserved for ST category and ward numbers 7, 32 and 50 were reserved for ST women. Ward numbers 20, 23, 24, 37 and 48 were reserved for OBC and ward numbers 6, 26, 36, 39 and 49 for OBC women. Similarly, ward numbers 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 21, 29, 34, 38, 41, 45 were reserved for general category and ward number 5, 9, 17, 19, 22, 28, 31 , 35, 40, 43, 44, 46, 51 were reserved for general category women.
Meanwhile, for elections to the posts of 23 members of Paota panchayat samiti, three posts were reserved for SC, two posts for ST, five posts of OBC and 13 posts were reserved for general category. Of these, 11 posts were reserved for women through lottery – one for SC women, one post for ST women, two posts for OBC women and 7 posts for general category women.
Also, for elections to the posts of 27 members of Bassi panchayat samiti, six posts were reserved for SC, six for ST, one post for OBC and 14 posts were reserved for general category. Of these, 13 posts were reserved for women – 3 each for SC and ST women and 7 posts for general category women.
