Ima Members Urge Dgp To Send Copy Of ‘honour Of Dead Body’ Bill To All Police Stns | Jaipur News

The doctors urged the police to issue copies of the two to all police stations of the state so that the cops are aware of the recent developments as this could minimise harassment of doctors. It is a common practice that patients keep bodies of patients outside hospitals for demanding compensation.
“Police should act according to the standard operative procedures (SOP) under the Rajasthan Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (prevention of violence and damage to property) Act, 2008, but, whenever there is a violence or damage to hospital property, we have to rush to the police to make them aware about the Act and we have to appeal them to act according to the law,” said Dr Anurag Sharma, secretary, IMA (Jaipur).
The IMA has pointed out that police stations should be aware of the two Acts. “In ‘The Rajasthan Honour of Dead Body Bill, 2023’, there will be a provision of two years of punishment to family members of the deceased. A provision has been made for a punishment of six months for a person from outside the family. After the passing of this bill, no one will be able to delay the last rites, except for the delay caused by any medico-legal issue,” said Dr Sunil Chugh, president (state), of the IMA.
Last year, Dr Archana Sharma, a doctor from Lalsot, committed suicide due to such protests, the IMA recalled.
