Jaipur: The Indian Medical Association (Jaipur branch) has appealed to doctors not to remain silent on extortion calls and inform the police and IMA if any such incident happens to them so that the harassment and the danger lurking can be thwarted. The IMA appeal came a day after four accused were arrested on charges of making calls for extortion. The accused intimidated two prominent doctors in the city by making extortion calls for Rs 50 lakh to each of them. TNN

Mumbai: Police informer, dismissed constable connive to extort Rs 22 lakh from bizman
A police informer and a dismissed police constable in Mumbai allegedly extorted Rs 22 lakh and a high-end mobile phone from a businessman’s brother. The informer claimed he could help remove the brother’s name from a drug case. The chargesheet stated that the informer and constable connived with each other to deceive the businessman. The constable was dismissed from the police force in 2018. The case has been transferred to the anti-extortion cell for further investigation.
