Intelligence Agencies: Bangladeshi Woman Travels To Anupgarh To Meet Local Man | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Intelligence agencies were put on high alert after a 30-year-old Bangladeshi woman was found to be in Anupgarh district, to meet a local man she met on a little-known app about seven months ago.
The police said that the matter came to light when Rawala police station alerted senior officials. A woman identified as Umme Habiba, a native of Dhaka, travelled from her country to reach Kolkata and from there proceeded to a small village in western Rajasthan.
“She left Dhaka on September 1 and reached Kolkata. She claimed to be traveling on a tourist visa. On September 3, she arrived in Bikaner on the Howrah Express. Afterwards, she took a bus from a bus stand in Bikaner and reached the 13 DOL village in Anupgarh district,” said a senior officer of the Rajasthan police.
IGP Bikaner Om Prakash then issued instructions to the police to examine the case and an alert was sent to intelligence officials.
Police officers informed TOI that they have recommended the formation of a Joint Interrogation Committee (JIC) comprising sleuths from various security and intelligence agencies to investigate the woman.
“Certain pockets in western Rajasthan are considered restricted zones, but they are not clearly earmarked. Therefore, we have requested the formation of the JIC for this case,” said an officer.
Sources also said that the woman had met the local man, who is about 28 years old, on Yalla mobile app. They were talking to each other over the app for the past seven to eight months.
“We found about 2,000 in Bangladeshi currency, a passport, a Dhaka to Kolkata train ticket, and other items in her possession,” sources said. Police identified the man she had come to meet as Roshan. His background is being verified, police officers said.
