Jaipur: The sanctioned post of deputy commissioner of police (DCP) of the crime branch is lying vacant in Jaipur police for nearly a year now. The last DCP (crime) was transferred in March 2022. Since then city police did not have a full-time IPS officer at the post. Some officials were transferred to the same post for a brief time before they were given district postings. Currently, DCP (North) Paris Deshmukh holds additional charge for the post of DCP (crime). According to a senior official, the office of DCP in the crime branch is a major operational part of the Jaipur police. The DCP (crime) also analyses information about new gangs and coordinates with different field teams. TNN
