Jaipur: Mass detention of unemployed youths for protesting outside Pradesh Congress Committee office | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: In all 84 protestors under the banner – Rajasthan Berozgar Ekikrit Mahasangh – who were protesting outside Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) office on Thursday – have been detained at different police stations under Jaipur North for causing obstruction to traffic movement, said Mohd Shapiq Khan, SHO, Sanjay Circle police station.
“It is a case of our police station, but they have detained at different police stations under Jaipur North. They have been detained under section 151 of the CrPC at Shastri Nagar, Bhatta Basti, Vidhyadharnagar, Sanjay Circle, Manak Chowk, Kotwali and Jalupura police stations,” said Khan. He said they’ll be kept under detention on Thursday night.
“They have been detained for blocking the road, causing obstruction to traffic movement and disturbing peace. We tried to reason with them from 9 in the morning till 5 pm, but they refused to listen to us. We requested them to vacate the road, but they kept shouting slogans and causing hindrances,” he added.
Earlier, a video which went viral showed a police officer indulge in a heated argument with Upen Yadav, president of Rajasthan Berozgar Ekikrit Mahasangh. In that video, the police officer was heard asking the unemployed youths to obey the law and vacate the road leading to the PCC office. He also said many businessmen in the locality had complained against the unemployed youths for blocking the road. Yadav was seen replying, “Do not threaten us. Do whatever you feel like. If you want to use lathis on us, do it.”
The official was then heard saying that he would take action as per law. He then gave directions to bring the bus to ferry them to the police station. Later, the protestors were removed by police personnel and dragged into police vans. The unemployed youths have been protesting over four separate demands at Jaipur’s Shaheed Smarak for the past 3-4 days.
The four demands include- recruitment of 6,000 technical helpers as announced by the Congress government in its first budget. Only 1,512 posts were being filled by the state government.
Secondly, the government should release advertisements for panchayati raj JEN recruitment exam by adding 539 posts to existing 2100 posts and conducting a written examination.
Thirdly, recruitment of junior accountants should be kept outside the ambit of CET and its exam dates should be announced. Their last demand is that unemployed youths of the state should be given priority in competitive examinations.
