Jaipur Police: Jaipur Police Uses Drones To Scrutinise Accident Black Spots | Jaipur News

Jaipur: In a bid to identify technical problems and design flaws, Jaipur police is using drone camerasto obtain better view of areas categorized as “black spots” which are prone to deadly accidents. Additional commissioner of police (Traffic and administration) Rahul Prakash told TOI that police have identified as many as 20 black spots based on the number of accidents, fatalities, etc.“Camera-mounted drones facilitate in providing better understanding of the road engineering work and helps us provide better judgement for improvement works like reducing the width of big intersections, circles, removing unnecessary roads cuts and easing down bottlenecks,” Prakash said.
Some of the major black spots include Nahargarh Hills, 200ft chauraha, Kamla Nehru Nagar to Hotel Highway King, elevated road Sodala, Dwarkadas Park chauraha, Government Hostel intersection, Riddhi Siddhi crossroads, Khaitan chauraha, From Panipech to Shani Mandir, Chomu Puliya to Lata Circle, etc.
During an important meeting, a decision was made to put up warning boards and speed breakers near all the black spots. This includes marking, repairing broken roads, reducing the radius of some intersections and circles by closing unnecessary cuts, and increasing the height of road medians to alleviate traffic congestion.
Prakash told TOI that efforts are underway to achieve effective accident control at black spots by installing CCTV cameras. He said, “To further enhance road safety in the city, additional measures are being considered. Another crucial aspect of accident control involves strict enforcement against vehicles violating traffic rules.”

Road accident deaths in Vij increase by 46%
The number of road accident deaths in Vijayawada city increased by 46% in 2022 compared to the previous year, while Vizag city saw a 3% decrease. Vijayawada ranked 13th and Vizag ranked 18th among 50 cities in terms of road accident deaths in 2022. Andhra Pradesh saw a slight decrease in road accidents but an increase in deaths in 2022 compared to 2021. The main causes of accidents were identified as faulty road engineering, bad junction design, inadequate signage, and exceeding speed limits. Efforts to address these issues are necessary to reduce accidents.
