Jaisalmer: 4-day Dharna To Save Pasture Land Begins In Jaisalmer Dist | Jaipur News
Jaisalmer: A large number of environment enthusiasts in a bid to stop land allotments for solar and wind turbines and industrialisation on pasture lands started the four-day dharna outside the district collectorate, which will continue till June 9 and they also submitted a memorandum.
They are demanding to register jungles as pasture lands in the government revenue records.
Sumer Singh Bhati, who is taking part in the dharna, said that there are many temples and religious places across the district and locals do not cut trees on pasture lands so that grazing land is left for the livestock and a safe place is available for the wildlife. Many such jungles are in the government record due to which they are easily allotted for solar and windmill companies, which is totally wrong. These jungles are actually pasture lands and grazing grounds for the animals in the region.”
Activists said that the government has not been taking the matter seriously and hence no action is being taken in this regard. TNN
