Jaisalmer: Religious Function Close To India-pak Border In Jaisalmer Dist Faces Protests | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: Preparations for a religious ceremony close to the India-Pakistan border in Jaisalmer district have drawn sharp objections from both Border Security Force (BSF) and Seemajan Kalyan Samiti (SKS), an RSS-affiliated organisation.
In a memorandum submitted to the district administration, SKS has said that construction of buildings for civic amenities and arrangement of religious ceremonies at Manda village, about 3km from the international border, would have an adverse impact on national security.
Since a large number of people are likely to assemble for the ceremony on Sunday and Monday, SKS has urged the district administration to stop the ceremony.
“Giving permission for the religious event at Mandla village is wrong as it is in violation of the rules applied to border areas. Permission given by the sub-divisional officer (SDO) violates the curfew announced by the district administration. We demand immediate cancellation of the religious ceremony,” said Bhoor Singh Beeda, the district secretary of SKS.
He said since Mandla village lies in a scheduled police station area along the international border, there is a ban on the entry of outsiders.
“Despite the possibility of a large number of outsiders reaching there for the ceremony, the Jaisalmer SDO granted permission for it without taking BSF into confidence. This has raised serious questions on national security. It is not in the SDO’s jurisdiction to give permission for a programme being organised very near the international border,” said Beeda.
