Jaisalmer: The state government has been taking proactive measures to address the dire state of healthcare services in remote districts grappling with a severe shortage of doctors. In a recent incident, a female patient had been admitted to Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer for two days without showing any signs of improvement.
In response, the patient’s family members lodged serious allegations against the doctor, accusing him of neglecting her treatment. They subsequently took the patient to the district collectorate to express their protest.
Following intervention from an additional district collector, the patient was readmitted to the hospital, with instructions for better treatment and care from the District Medical Officer .
Consequently, the family members returned the patient to the hospital. The incident involved a 50-year-old woman from Kuchedi village who had been bitten by a snake. Initially, she received treatment in her village, but as her condition did not improve, she was brought to Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer. Dissatisfied with the treatment provided at the hospital, the family members grew agitated, especially as the patient remained unconscious without any signs of recovery.
An argument ensued between the family and the doctor, leading them to bring the patient to the collector’s office. Police, upon receiving the information, arrived at the scene to mediate. Subsequently, a district administration officer persuaded the family to return the patient to Jawahar Hospital.
Rasul Khan, the patient’s brother, accused the doctor of misconduct, claiming that no doctor had visited his sister.
