JAISALMER: Enraged over a broken engagement, a youth kidnapped the girl who was supposed to get married to another individual in Sankhla village in Mohangarh area of Jaisalmer district.
The youth had come to the village on Friday.
The family members of the woman promptly informed Mohangarh police.
In a joint action, Ramgarh and Mohangarh police caught the accused along with the girl from a temple and brought them to Mohangarh.
The youth was detained.
The girl’s statements were recorded and she was handed over to her family members. Nachna Dy SP Kailash Vishnoi said that girl’s father Choon Singh stated that some people of Habur village had abducted her daughter. Teams were fanned out in their search. In the evening, the girl was located along with the accused.
The girl’s family members stated that she was first engaged to a youth in Habur. But that engagement was broken off. She was about to get married to another individual on June 12. This decision seemed to have triggered the disgruntled youth, leading to the kidnapping.
Some people in a Fortuner vehicle are said to have kidnapped the woman from her house.
