Hc Summons Md Of Jvvnl, Team On May 23 In Prn Case | Jaipur News
Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court has summoned the managing director of JVVNL along with his team of officers and the vigilance team at 11am on May 23 to explain how electric connections in Prithivi Raj Nagar (PRN) scheme were given to people who had not obtained lease deeds (pattas) from JDA, despite the court’s order against it.
The high court had in July 2013 banned power connections in PRN scheme without JDA’s approval. However, JVVNL went against the court’s order after facing rampant power theft in the area and resultant loss of revenue. According to JVVNL, two kinds of power theft prevailed in the area due to denial of power connections: subletting from legal connections to houses, and direct theft from the power lines.
JDA and JVVNL had conducted a survey in the area as per directions of the chief secretary in February 2022. JVVNL’s claims of power theft were found to be true. Then it was decided in a meeting on February 14, 2022, that under the Electricity Act, 2003, it was illegal to deny power connection to unauthorised colonies as JVVNL provides connection to kacchi bastis and even to encroachers on government land.
