Walled City Traders Protest Over Jmc-h Notices On Encroachments | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Traders from Walled City area on Wednesday staged a protest outside the house of urban development and housing minister Shanti Dhariwal, after they received notices from JMC-Heritage regarding alleged encroachments.
The civic body has sent notices to 19 commercial complexes from Haldiyon Ka Rasta, Maniramji Ki Kothi and another market, based on an order from the high court. Officials said that notices were sent on a case where the HC has asked authorities to take action against those properties where commercial activities are being run from residential areas.
“Following HC orders, notices have been given to 19 commercial complexes, where commercial activities were being carried out from residential areas with extra constructions being done. The traders have been given three days to respond to the notice and present documents or proof if they have any for the construction that they carried out or for the work. If they do not respond, then further action of sealing the buildings will be taken,” said a senior official from JMC-Heritage.
In these 19 buildings around 1000 establishments are under the danger of being shut down. There is no parking in any of the buildings and the vehicles are parked on the main roads.
Councillors from the area said that action was not taken when the encroachments were done and now, traders are being harassed. “These encroachments started coming up around 20 years ago. We complained repeatedly to corporation officials to take action, but nothing was done. Now, notices have been sent and traders are being harassed,” said Kusum Yadav, councillor from Johri Bazaar.
