Jctsl: Jctsl Blacklists Bus Driver Who Mowed Down 2 Persons In Jhotwara On Sunday | Jaipur News
Jaipur: A day after a city bus of Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) mowed down two persons, officials of the corporation blacklisted the driver who won’t be able to ever drive a JCTSL bus.
“None of the city buses has driver hired by the corporation. The contractors from which we hire buses appoint the drivers. Following this accident, we had blacklisted the driver and has asked the contractor to remove him from JCTSL services,” said Ajitabh Sharma, CMD of JCTSL.
Officials said this a standard practice of the corporation even in case of minor accidents. In case of any accidents involving JCTSL buses, wherever a police complaint is lodged, officials wait for the police report. If the report states that the accident is due to driver’s negligence, JCTSL blacklists the driver.
“This case is quiet unfortunate as two people have died. So, we decided not to wait for any report and blacklisted the driver,” an official added.
On Sunday, a moving JCTSL bus mowed down two – a 70-year-old and a 19-year-old – near Khirni Phatak in Jhotwara.
JCTSL officials, however, clarified that there was no mechanical fault in the bus. Although several buses of corporations are more than a decade old, this bus was comparatively new as it got manufactured and added to the JCTSL’s fleet only in 2020.
“This is a new bus and there was no mechanical fault. The accident took place on Sunday when roads were comparatively less congested. We still wonder why this bus was speeding. The mode we operate our buses driver and conductor get a monthly remuneration and it don’t depend on the sale of tickets. Even the contractors, from whom we take the buses, get a payment on per kilometre basis,” another official added.
To avoid such incidents, JCTSL had already tied up with the traffic department to impart road safety trainings to drivers.
“Vijay Kumar Singh, ADG Traffic, has played an important role in organising this training camp for JCTSL drivers. For the past two months, we are providing this training in batches,” added Ajitabh Sharma.
