Jda Okays Revised Estimate Of ₹86cr For Gandhi Museum | Jaipur News

Jaipur: After the inauguration of the Rajasthan International Centre (RIC) the state government is now keen on completing the Gandhi Darshan Museum at Central Park before the forthcoming assembly elections.
For this the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has given a financial approval of Rs 85.75 crore, the revised estimated amount towards operations, maintenance and other works related to this project.
“Although the focus for this year is to maintain and augment the existing infrastructure, the state government wants to complete the Gandhi Darshan Museum within the projected deadline. Just like RIC this is also a ‘pet project’ of the Congress government and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot,” said a senior JDA official.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot had announced the construction of the Gandhi Darshan Museum along with the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Governance and Social Sciences during the 2021-2022 state budget. Both the structures would come up at Lakshmi Vilas Palace in the premises of the Central Park. In October 2021 Gehlot laid the foundation stone of the project and a Jaipur-based company was selected to complete the project.
Although the previous BJP government had decided to auction this location, the Congress government took possession of the Lakshmi Vilas Hotel, Kanak Bhawan and a horse stable at Central Park, an area spread across 35,000 square metre, following a Supreme Court verdict delivered in May 2021.
JDA officials said that the work for this project is going on in full swing and is expected to get complete by June this year.
Besides, giving financial approval for the Gandhi Darshan Museum project, the finance committee of JDA has also sanctioned financial approval of Rs 3.36 crore was issued for road renovation from Zone-02A Zorawar Singh Gate to Ramgarh Mode and various works on main roads. In addition, administrative and financial approval of Rs 7.25 crore was issued for the renovation and improvement work of B-2 Bypass Road (from New Sanganer Road to Railway Underpass).
“Financial approval for several other small and big works related to infrastructural development had also been given in the meeting,” said another JDA official.
