Petition in Supreme Court seeks review of same-sex judgment
Four members of the LGBTQIA+ community have filed a petition seeking a review of a recent Supreme Court judgment that denied legal recognition to same-sex marriages under the Special Marriage Act. The petitioners argue that the judgment denies them the right to marry, choose a partner, and form a family, which are privileges granted to heterosexual couples. They believe that the court recognized the discrimination faced by the LGBTQIA+ community but failed to provide appropriate relief.

Coordinate bench observations no ground for review, says Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of India has ruled that a review of a judgment cannot be allowed based solely on a passing reference made by another bench of equal strength. The court rejected a review petition seeking re-examination of a previous verdict on the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process. The bench stated that if a bench does not agree with a decision made by another bench of equal strength, the proper course of action would be to refer the matter to a larger bench for a definitive decision. The ruling is significant as it sets a precedent for similar cases in the future.
