Jmc-h Showdown: Mayor, Councillors Demand Inquiry | Jaipur News

Jaipur: JMC-Heritage mayor Munesh Gurjar and the several councillors who have been protesting for the past six days over alleged ill treatment by additional commissioner Rajendra Verma have now demanded an inquiry into the matter.
Gurjar said that if the additional commissioner is found guilty then he should be suspended immediately, and if he is found not guilty, she would resign from her post.
The demand was raised a day after the additional commissioner wrote to the JMC-H commissioner and the department of local bodies for permission to file an FIR against the mayor and councillors for using caste slurs against him.
Amid this, cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi on Wednesday reached the JMC-H office to talk to the protesting councillors. The mayor told Joshi that additional commissioner Rajendra Verma was trying to undermine the councillors.
“He is preparing to implicate the councillors in false cases, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances. We have not done any kind of corruption. Rather, Verma has been holding up files. There should be a fair investigation, so that everyone can know what the truth is,” said the mayor.
The mayor further said, “Verma wants to suppress this issue of corruption by taking support of his caste. I have not said any caste-indicative words and neither have any of the councillors. I appeal to the higher officials and the enlightened people of his caste to check Verma’s performance for once. I have never discriminated against any caste and I myself have adopted a girl child from the SC community.”
After listening to the issues raised by the councillors, Joshi said, “Today I have not come among the councillors as a representative of the government or as a minister. Rather, I have come as an ordinary MLA. I have spoken to all the four MLAs (of Jaipur) and we all want that the protest should end.”
