Jmc: Jmc-g Cracks Whip On Ud Tax Defaulters | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: As the corporation is dealing with fund crisis, JMC-Greater has now started taking strict action on properties over pending urban development (UD) tax.
The corporation has identified around 85 properties in each zone so far where UD tax ranging from Rs 10,000 to up to Rs 1 lakh is pending. Most of these properties are in Malviya Nagar and Jagatpura zones.
On Thursday, JMC Greater attached three properties in Murlipura zone and acted against arrears of urban development tax on six properties. On the spot itself, three defaulters deposited Rs 7.34 lakh to the revenue team. Officials said that properties were seized over non-deposit of the remaining amount of urban development tax.
“To recover UD tax, zone wise warrants are being prepared which will be sent to the defaulters. We have identified around 85-90 defaulters in each zone, which include, shops, flats and complexes. Earlier, we did not take action against complexes, but now we will act on those too for mass recovery. Regular drives are also being conducted by our teams to ensure that pending tax is paid by the defaulters,” said an official.
In the current financial year, JMC Greater has received Rs 33 crores as urban development tax, whereas the corporation had kept a target of earning Rs 100 crores from urban development tax. A company has been hired by the corporation to expedite the process of recovering UD tax.
As the financial year is ending, JMC Heritage has also asked all officials to take action at zone level and start collecting pending UD tax. Till now, JMC Heritage has collected Rs 15-20 crores of UD tax said officials.
