KCR indulged in scams worth thousands of crores, alleges Union home minister Amit Shah | India News
HYDERABAD: Stepping up the attack on BRS president and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao ahead of the assembly polls, Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday said the BJP, if elected to power, would investigate those who indulged in corruption and put them behind bars. Shah, who addressed an election rally at Armoor and later held roadshows here, accused the chief minister of corruption to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees, and said KCR should not rest easy, thinking nothing would be done about it.
“KCR, don’t sleep soundly, your time is over,” Shah said, adding, “Whatever scams were done, the BJP government will investigate and send those who indulged in corruption behind bars.”
Alleging that the BRS government left no stone unturned in corruption, he named the “Miyapur land scam”, “Kavitha ji’s liquor scam” (CM KCR’s daughter and MLC Kavitha), “Outer Ring Road scam” as some of the alleged scandals.
Labelling the KCR-led government the most corrupt in the country, he also claimed that the chief minister is “afraid of Owaisi” (AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi) and that the steering of his vehicle (government) is in “Owaisi’s hands”.
Shah also sought to tap into religious sentiments asking, “Do you want the Goddess Bhagya Lakshmi temple in Hyderabad safe or not? Can KCR do it? The one who fears Owaisi, can he take care of your security?”
Harking back to the history of the princely state of Hyderabad, the Union home minister said that if the BJP is elected to power, it would officially celebrate ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ — September 17, 1948, the day the state under Nizam rule officially merged with the Indian Union.
He also reminded the people of the BJP’s promises that a backward caste leader would be made chief minister and that a “vertical quota” would be set apart for the Madiga community of scheduled castes. Speaking about law and order problems, Amit Shah said, “NIA comes from Delhi and nabs three terrorists from this constituency (Rajendra Nagar) but Hyderabad police does not do anything. Should they (terror elements) be stopped or not,” Shah asked, without elaborating.
Media reports in August this year had said that NIA arrested a man from Hyderabad in connection with an alleged terror module.
Moving on to development issues, the Union minister said the Congress and the BRS cannot transform Telangana into the number one state in the country, and alleged that it is “because a minister is made (in their governments) by issuing a tender at the dining table, seeking a quotation and (is appointed based on) who gives more money”.
Alleging that those who give money are made ministers by the Congress and BRS, he said the time has come to remove “corrupt KCR” from power.
Slamming the BRS government over the leak of question papers of recruitment tests conducted by the state public service commission, he said the BJP would provide jobs to 2.50 lakh youth “as per merit”. He reiterated that the BJP would abolish the four per cent quota given to Muslims and provide that benefit to the OBCs and the STs. The BJP, if elected to power, would also arrange free darshan at the Lord Ram temple at Ayodhya for the people, he added. Apart from Rajendra Nagar, Amit Shah also held road shows in Serilingampally and Amberpet constituencies in Hyderabad.
“People are pouring out of their homes into the Rajendranagar Assembly Constituency roadshow and it signifies that the BJP is going to emerge as a decisive force in Telangana,” he said on social media platform X.
