Kirori Calls Off Sit-in On 12th Day After Higher Edu Min’s Assurance | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena called off his sit-in at Ghat Ki Ghuni on the 12th day following assurance from state higher education minister Rajendra Yadav on Saturday.
Meena gave seven days’ ultimatum to the government to consider his demands like 90% reservation of locals (state domicile) in government jobs, CBI inquiry to paper leaks, etc., else he will hold state-wide protest.
Earlier in the day, Meena gave a call to march from the protest site to Shaheed Smarak along with his supporters raising anti-government slogans. During the march, police were seen convincing Meena to disperse the march as it was causing a traffic jam, but he and his supporters didn’t pay heed.
Upon reaching the Smarak, the minister of state for home Rajendra Yadav and police commissioner Anand Srivastava called him for a meeting at the police commissionerate. Meena went there with a 11-member delegation. “Yadav assured us that he would speak to the DGP about our demands. He said no matter how big or influential the person is, he will be exposed. I am confident the Gehlot government would not renege on the promise made to me of strict action,” said Meena.
