Jaipur: As the festive season of Diwali approaches, the Walled City of Jaipur has been adorned with vibrant lights to celebrate the occasion. However, concerns have arisen over the safety of these decorations as wires of lights lining the dividers of the roads remain uncovered, posing a potential hazard to pedestrians and motorists.
Shopkeepers in the Walled City have raised alarms over the incomplete work on the dividers, leaving the wires exposed.These wires could prove dangerous, particularly during the busy holiday season, as they can become entangled with pedestrians’ feet and pose a risk of accidents.
Kailash Mittal, general secretary of the Johri Bazaar traders’ association, emphasised that every precaution has been taken to prevent accidents during the festive season. However, due to ongoing work on the dividers throughout the market, the wires of the lighting decorations could not be adequately covered.
To address this issue, the wires will be secured to railings to prevent mishaps. In response to these safety concerns, market associations have instructed shop owners to take immediate action to cover all exposed wires to ensure the safety of all visitors.
Suresh Saini, vice president of Jaipur Vyapaar Sangh, said, measures have been taken to ensure that the placement of lights does not interfere with the white parking lines, allowing vehicles to move smoothly. without disruption and ensuring the safety of pedestrians.
