Kota: A video showing a Railway Police Force (RPF) constable brutally beating a man with a stick on the platform of Kota railway station went viral. The video came to the attention of RPF authorities on Thursday afternoon, leading to the immediate suspension of the constable. An inspector-level officer was assigned to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of Thursday, when constable Gourav Kumar apprehended a man, believed to be a drug addict, attempting to steal from a passenger’s bag on platform number 4. When the constable told the man to leave the station, he began verbally abusing the constable.
Regrettably, the constable took matters into his own hands and resorted to excessive violence, repeatedly striking the man with a stick, as confirmed by Circle Inspector (CI) Sanjay Singh Choudhary of RPF Kota.
The circulation of a video, captured by a bystander on his mobile phone, brought the incident to RPF’s attention.
After conducting an investigation, the officials deemed the constable’s actions inexcusable, as a constable is not expected to resort to such public displays of violence. tnn
