Jaipur: State Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra on Saturday condemned a Karnataka BJP leader’s threat to eliminate the family of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. Dotasra said the silence of PM Narendra Modi and senior BJP leaders on BJP’s Karnataka MLA candidate Manikanth Rathod’s statements was baffling.
Dotasra said Rathod’s audio tapes circulating on social media show BJP’s nervousness over its possible defeat in Karnataka assembly elections. He accused the saffron party of lowering the discourse politics by fielding such candidates.
“Such utterances in a democratic system are not only condemnable but against the traditions of parliamentary democracy,” said Dotasra. He also lambasted the PM for ignoring his constitutional duty by remaining busy in election campaigning in Karnataka even as violence has engulfed Manipur. Dotasra also criticized the PM’s silence on the ongoing agitation of wrestlers at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
