Jaipur: The court of the chief commissioner for persons with disabilities has issued a notice to the department for empowerment of persons with disabilities, ministry of social justice and empowerment, directing it to stop issuance of fake disability certificates in states, including Rajasthan.

The petition was filed by Hemant Bhai Goyal, national president, Federation of Disabled Rights. The court has asked the department to reply within 30 days.
“While responding to this notice, due care may be taken on relevant provisions of the RPwD Act, other statutory provisions and government instructions,” said Goyal in the complaint.

According to the petition filed by Goyal, complaints were received from across the country regarding issuance of fake disability certificates.
“Complaints have been received in Rajasthan about unnecessary documents sought for issuance of disability certificates. These include caste certificate, income certificate, bank details, etc.,” it said.
“When information was sought (through RTI) from the state’s directorate of specially-abled persons no reply was received,” the complaint stated. TNN
