Seized cash and arms at Kamlesh Prajapat’s house
JAISALMER: Several Congress and BJP leaders have demanded a CBI probe into the ‘encounter’ death of history-sheeter Kamlesh Prajapat on April 22 in Barmer.
Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, former minister Rajendra Singh Rathore, Congress MLA from Pachpadra Madan Prajapat and former Jaisalmer-Barmer MP Manvendra Singh have demanded a probe by the agency.
Barmer SP Anand Sharma said police have proof that police had to fire in self defence. A judicial probe has been already ordered in the case.
Rajasthan revenue minister and Baytoo MLA Harish Choudhary on Monday said action will be taken against anybody who is found guilty in the judicial inquiry.
MLA Prajapat in a press conference on Monday had said that if he had to speak against the government for justice, he would not shy away.
A day after Prajapat’s encounter, the MLA had met the SP and demanded justice.
The MLA said he was not demanding government a job or compensation, but after the video of the encounter went viral, there was resentment among people.
A similar allegation was levelled by former minister Rajendra Rathore and Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The government should get this incident investigated by a senior judicial officer or the CBI to find the truth, the leaders said.
SP Sharma said in February too, Kamlesh tried to kill Sanderao SHO. Till now, the SHO is undergoing treatment at Jodhpur, he added.
The SP said the statement by head constable on the firing by Kamlesh was not right. He said police have CCTV camera footage of the entire encounter based on which the FIR was lodged.
