JAIPUR: An exasperated judge in Bundi district has directed police to search for a witness and produce him in court in the next 11 days in order to complete the hearing of a case pending for over five years due to his non-cooperation.
The order passed by Vikas Nehra, the civil and judicial magistrate of Keshoraipatan, is going viral on social media.
On June 20, he directed the Kapren police station officer to present the witness, ASI Bhagwan Singh, by searching for him ‘swarg lok se patal lok tak’ (from heaven to hell) and ensure his appearance as a witness in the case during the next date on July 5.
In fact, the order is related to six pending cases in the civil court of Keshoraipatan.
ASI Bhagwan Singh, who had conducted the investigation of these cases, was to appear in the court as the final witness on behalf of the prosecution. But he was not appearing even after repeated summons.
Because of this, the court was not able to dispose of these cases. All these cases are more than five years old.
The Rajasthan high court had recently directed the lower courts to dispose of cases of five to ten years at the earliest to reduce pendency. But in these cases, the court is unable to come to any conclusion without hearing the major prosecution witness.
