Lung Transplant: Brain-dead Alwar Man’s Lungs Transplanted Into Up Woman | Jaipur News
Jaipur: A 45-year-old woman, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, has received the lungs harvested on Thursday from a brain-dead 28-year-old man from Alwar district. After the transplant, she is undergoing treatment at the post-operative ICU of KIMS in Secunderabad. The woman had been suffering from an interstitial lung disease (ILD) that made breathing difficult for her, and she was advised a lung transplant, said doctors at NIMS Hospital in Jaipur with knowledge about the transplant. The donor, Vineet, a resident of Kalgaon village in Tijara of Alwar district, was admitted at this private hospital. A team of doctors from Secunderabad had reached Jaipur and collected a brain-dead Vineet’s lungs on Thursday and transplanted it into the woman, said a doctor at NIMS Hospital who was engaged in the safe and fast transport of the lungs. “The transplant has brightened her chances of living,” he added.
With Vineet’s family having decided to donate his organs, four people have got a new lease of life by having his kidneys, liver, and lungs transplanted into them. One of his kidneys was transplanted into a patient at SMS Hospital, and the other was sent to CK Birla Hospital for transplant. His liver was transplanted into a patient at Durlabhji Hospital in Jaipur. It was the 54th cadaver organ donation in Rajasthan.
The traffic police in Jaipur had created a green corridor for transportation of the lungs from NIMS Hospital, from where the organs were transported to Jaipur airport to be taken to Secunderabad.
