Thieves Eye Hosp O2 Pipes, Babus Worried | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The state government had developed a network of over 500 pressure swing absorption (PSA) oxygen generating plants during Covid-19. It is now concerned over the security of the metal pipelines which connect the plants with patients’ beds as cases of attempt to theft of the pipelines have been reported from different parts of the state.
Such an incident was reported from Alwar’s government-run child specialty hospital. Earlier, a foiled attempt of theft of pipelines was reported at government-run SRJ Hospital in Jhalawar. Similarly, a foiled attempt was reported from SMS Hospital a few months ago.
A senior health department official said that since oxygen is supplied to the patients through the pipelines, any attempt of theft always puts the lives of the patients on oxygen therapy at risk. “We will direct the officials and in-charges of oxygen plants across the state to ensure safety and security of the pipelines and prevent them from being stolen. When the pipeline is cut, it stops supply of oxygen to beds putting patients at risk,” the official said.
He said that the guards also need to remain extra alert and ensure that no one comes close to the pipelines.
