Mali: Mali Family Alleges ‘social Boycott’, Threatens Suicide | Jaipur News
Jaisalmer: A family of the Mali community is sitting on a dharna at Pokhran since Saturday after the administration took no action on its complaint that the panchs of the community had ostracised it. The family had approached the SDM of Pokhran on April 19, demanding action against the panchs.
The family said in a memorandum it submitted to the SDM in the name of the chief minister that if the administration takes no action they would commit mass suicide.
Bhagwanaram Mali, a member of the family, said the panchs of the Mali community had been committing social and religious harassment against the family. He said after the family came to the SDM’s court and met the Jaisalmer SP, police registered a case, but no action was taken.
“After police registered a case, the panchs of the community threatened to kill us. Now, if we do not get justice, we will commit mass suicide at Ambedkar Circle,” said Bhagawanaram.
Police said the matter arises from a land dispute between five sons of Kriparam and Sthayinath Dhune of ward number 4 in Pokhran. The five sons of Kriparam have alleged of social boycott by the community panchs, said an official. The complaint lodged by Bhagwanaram names 27 panchs and other 35 people. TNN
