Malpura: 29 Arrested Day After Violence Between 2 Groups In Malpura | Jaipur News

Jaipur/Ajmer: Police arrested 29 persons for disturbing peace, a day after 19 persons including a few policemen were injured when members of two communities clashed over rash bike riding by youths of a community at Purani tehsil area of Malpura town in Tonk district. Police said that the situation in Tonk is peaceful and under control and they have taken complaints from both the confronting groups. Section 144 of CrPC was also imposed in the area.
On Sunday some women had objected when some members of a community were riding bikes rashly through their colony. “The elderly woman nabbed a few youths and locked them inside a room which triggered a violent confrontation between the two communities. Both the confronting groups pelted stones on each other in which at least 19 persons including some policemen were injured,” said a senior police officer of Tonk on Monday.
“Some of the women asked them not to accelerate their bike. However, they came in numbers in the evening. Later it turned into a violent confrontation. By evening a large number of police force was deployed in the region and senior officers too rushed to the spot,” said an officer.
In a joint video message Chinamayi Gopal, district collector Tonk and Rajshri Raj Verma, district SP Tonk state said that this was not a communal issue and the incident had been handled on time.
When contacted, Rupinder Singh, inspector general of police, Ajmer range, said, “The situation is peaceful and under control. The issue on which the two communities clashed is not communal. Some women were objecting to the rash driving. We have taken complaints from both the groups and have arrested 27 people as preventive arrests and 2 others for disturbing peace.”
The confrontation was between the members of Nagori Mohalla who got a message that their youths were kept hostage and between Gurjar Mohalla whose women were asking the youths not to indulge in rash driving.
“We have had peace talks with the two communities. Adequate police force is deployed in the region and the situation is and under control,” Singh added.
