Jaipur: A state-level programme to mark the International Menstrual Health and Hygiene Day was organised under the chairmanship of Women and Child Development minister Mamta Bhupesh at the Women’s Empowerment Directorate in Jhalana Institutional Area on Saturday.
The day aims to raise awareness about safe menstruation management for women and adolescent girls. It is observed annually on May 28.
During the programme, Bhupesh pointed out the traditional practice of women living behind ghunghat (veil) and their hesitance to openly discuss menstruation-related issues. She encouraged women to break the silence surrounding menstrual health and hygiene problems, urging them to speak openly.
