JAIPUR: The family of a 26-year-old woman who was found dead, hanging from the ceiling at her in-laws’ house in a village under Govindgarh police station area of Alwar on Friday, have accused her husband and two others of her gang rape and murder.
Police have registered a case and initiated investigations in the matter, an officer said on Saturday.
“The brother of the deceased woman stated that his sister was married two years ago and since then her in-laws were regularly harassing her for dowry. He alleged that she was murdered late on Thursday evening and on Friday they conspired to give it the impression of a suicide. He also alleged that the husband of the woman and two others gang-raped her,” said the police officer.
The postmortem of the woman was done under supervision of a medical board on Friday, police said. “We have registered a case under appropriate sections of IPC for gang rape and murder,” said the officer.
He said that the family had initially lodged a case of dowry death and later gave a further application accusing the husband and two others of murder and gang rape. “The matter would be investigated properly. Gang rape is yet to be ascertained,” he said. TNN
