Kota: Baran police on Sunday arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly killing his 70-year-old father, whose body was found outside his hut in an agriculture field in Kherkheda village of Baran district on June 30.
“The accused has been identified as Hemraj Meena (35), son of the deceased identified as Kanhi alias Kanhaiyalal Meena, a resident of Kherkheda village under Chabra police station,” said Baran SP Kalyanmal Meena. During investigation, cops suspected his younger son Hemraj and when he was strictly interrogated, he confessed to killing his father by lashing multiple attacks with an axe, SP Meena added.
According to Chabra SHO Nekiram, the interrogation with the accused revealed that Kanhi was a liquor addict, lived alone in a hut over his 4 bighas and would sell illegal country made liquor. Police found that Hemraj was fed up with all his activities as he believed that his father brought disrepute to their family with his illegal liquor sale. He added that Hemraj was also not happy that his father was inclined to give 4 bighas of the land to his elder brother.
Meanwhile around 2-3 other villagers had earlier held Kanhi responsible for the death of their family members and threatened him. Hence, taking advantage of this, Hemraj plotted the murder and some of the villagers, who had threatened his father and accordingly lodged report against them, the SHO said. tnn
