Man Electrocuted To Death In Kota, Engr Booked For Neglect | Jaipur News
Kota: A 35-year-old man died after he came in contact with an underground electricity line on Railway Station road under Bhimgangmandi police station here on Monday. Police have booked an assistant engineer of Kota Electricity Distribution Limited (KEDL) for causing death by negligence under Section 304 (A) and began investigation.
The man’s kin agreed to take body after assurance of compensation of Rs 10 lakh and job or a shop for the deceased man’s wife.
The deceased was identified as Mahaveer Meena alias Sonu, a resident of Bhimganjmandi area of Kota, who ran a betel shop on Railway Station road.
While the deceased was taking his two children to tuition on his motorbike, suddenly his two-wheeler slipped and he fell into a water-filled ditch on the road near ICICI Bank branch on Railway Station road where he received a fatal electricity shock after he came in contact with underground electricity line in the ditch, circle inspector of Bhimganjmandi police station Laxmichand said. The two children escaped as they fell on other side of the road, he added. He was immediately rushed to MBS Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, he added.
Digging was recently carried out on the road for development work by the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) and during the course of digging by JCB, the underground electricity line by KEDL was likely to have suffered damage exposing the wire, he added.
The family members alleged negligence by engineer of KEDL and on a report filed by them, the police lodged a case of causing death by negligence under section 304 (A) against assistant engineer of the power distribution company, he further said.
