Jaisalmer: A 29-year-old man married for eight years is facing trouble for allegedly remarrying without divorcing his first wife.
Officials at Gudamalani police station in Barmer district said they are probing a complaint lodged by his first wife.
Even though the woman informed police that her husband, Shravan Kumar, solemnised his second marriage at Maukava village on Thursday, a police team that reached there was told that there was no such wedding.
“We received the woman’s complaint that her husband is getting married for a second time without divorcing her. The complaint has been registered online, and the other party has been given a notice not to get married for the second time,” said Gudamalani circle inspector Ramesh Dhaka.
Police said the complainant said she had been physically and mentally harassed by her husband and in-laws for dowry and that she was beaten up by them when she was going to appear in an examination two months ago. She said her in-laws asked her to get money by selling her father’s land.
She told police that even though she wants to stay with her husband, he is forcing her to leave the house. She had met the SP two days ago and then lodged the complaint at Gudamalani police station. tnn
