Meena: Tea Vendor’s Last Rites Performed At Bassi Village | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The last rites of tea vendor Ram Prasad Meena, who committed suicide in Jaipur, were performed at his native village at Bassi, about 30km off the city, on Sunday, a day after week-long protests by his family and locals ended.
Meena’s family members took his mortal remains to his ancestral village on Sunday, and the last rites were performed in the afternoon. Meena ended his life on Monday, blaming cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi and some others for his drastic step after the construction of his house in Chandi ki Taksal area was halted by the administration. Meena’s family had been protesting since Monday and refusing to cremate the body. A medical team conducted the autopsy on Meena’s body on Thursday. After assurances to honour the family’s demands were given in the talks the district administration and police held with them, the family agreed to conduct the last rites tnn.
