JAIPUR: The state has been experiencing a continuous dip in mercury for the last few days. Most places witnessed decreasing temperature on Thursday, especially during morning hours. The meteorological office said that the temperature will decrease further in the coming days. Sirohi remained coldest where maximum temperature of 15.5°C was recorded.
Attributing the weather condition to the active northerly winds and vanishing of factors including upper air cyclonic cirsculation, the Met office said that mercury will further dip in the next couple of days.
People in Jaipur woke up to a pleasant morning when a minimum temperature of 22.3°C was recorded. A slight nip in the air was witnessed during the early morning hours. “Ideally for winters, the minimum temperature should be on or below 15°C. Next week the mercury will further dip in Jaipur,” said an officer with the Met office, Jaipur.
Sirohi was followed by Fatehpur where a minimum temperature of 16.6°C was recorded, Karauli 17.1°C, Bhilwara 18, Alwar 18.4, Anta (Baran) 18.7, Udaipur 18.8, Pilani 19.2, Dholpur 19.4, Sriganganagar 21, Chittorgarh 21.1, Bikaner 22.8, Jaisalmer 22.9, Barmer 23.1 and a minimum temperature of 23.4 was recorded in Jodhpur.
“A week ago several places recorded minimum temperature around 26 degrees Celsius or above. But, now the minimum temperature is between 15.5°C and 24°C.
Met office said that many places in western region such as Fatehpur, Churu, Bikaner and Sriganganagar will witness onset of winters in a fortnight.
